Can you make an Esspresso Coffee without a fancy machine?
A stove-top coffee maker would technically make a more traditional espresso anyway, being as how fancy-schmancy machines haven’t been around more than a couple hundred years. Our stove-top Italian coffee pot makes simply lovely espresso. And we make frothy coffee (not quite cappuccino but not far off) by whisking the milk vigorously while bringing it up to nearly-boiling point – the coffee machines inject steam into the milk to heat it and get air bubbles into it, which is basically what you’re doing when you whisk it while heating.
