Can you legally throw an apple core out of the car window?
Technically, I’d say this is littering. If it’s in the city, the applecore with be a slimy mess within a day or two. Out in the country, where I live, it’s probably still littering, but if the applecore is tossed into brush or bushes on the roadside, it will be food for wildlife (insects, rodents, skunks and even deer) and will be recycled into the environment, probably within a day or two. Worst case, it rots and becomes part of the earth. This is not true of many non-produce items. I will toss my applecores out the window in my area. I do make sure no one sees me do it, and I do make sure it goes well off the road. Fruit cores are the only thing I can ever remember tossing out a car window. If I’m in an area of pavement, I leave them in the car til I get home and put them in the compost bin.
