While I’m not from Texas, Anyone of any age can legally change their name by going to the courthouse and filing the paperwork to be signed by the judge……following through with “name change notification” in the legal notices of the classifieds ads in the paper….and then using the legal name change papers to officially change the name on legal documents…..there are fees associated. The birth certificate stays the same, you just show the Legal Name Change paper alongside it…..for the rest of your life.

Yes, anybody can change their name at any time. Look at every single bride who’s legally adopted her husband’s last name. The mother of my five year old cousin just changed my cousin’s middle name from Melinda to Magnolia.
