There is no restriction to 7 sessions in CAPA. The reason you have remembered 7 is that that is the average number of sessions people coming to CAMHS have, from audits. But the range is huge. The family has a Choice appointment as the first contact. If they need, want and chose to return to CAMHS then they are booked a Partnership appointment. This is usually with a different clinician, or more than one, but with the ones with the skills and experience needed for their problems. E.g. if need a cognitive approach then someone with some CBT skills. E.g. depression- supportive monitoring and psycho education and environmental manipulation may be the start for 4 to 6 weeks (e.g. if you are following NICE guidance) and then move to CBT approach. Most of team should be able to manage the level of CBT needed to help at the level of mapping symptoms, psychoeducation, doing a diary, activity scheduling, identifying and challenging negative automatic thoughts, teaching relaxation… The number o
