Can You Install Ceramic Tile on a Lauan Underlayment?

0

Lauan, also called Philippine Mahogany, is a generic term for wood made from certain trees in Southeast Asia. Lauan wood contains extractives–sugars –that interfere with the cure of mastic adhesives and Portland cement products. It is not considered a suitable substrate for ceramic tile by either the Ceramic Tile Installers of America or the Tile Council of America.
