Can you have lung cancer for an extended period of time without symptoms?
Yes this is very possible. The lung cancer may be benign which means that you have a tumor but it is not growing. People may be walking around with lung cancer for years and not know it because it is not causing any outward symptoms. If the cancer is benign it will generally not cause any complications and many people will not even know they are carrying it. If the cancer becomes malignant, it will start to spread throughout the body. You will develop cancer in other areas of your body and you will start to see symptoms. You may end up having cancer of the lymph nodes ( or some other random body part), however the cancer may be originally from the lungs.
