Hi! The Gardenia brand is usually considered as the gold standard of bread in the Philippines. They have recently manufactured Ube Bread in the form of loaves which you can buy from any supermarket in the Philippines. But the tastiest ube breads are actually found in Chinatown. The Chinese-Filipinos are the ones who made the first Ube Bread, and there are lots of Chinese-owned bakery/supermarkets which stock them. First and foremost is Polland, followed by Eng Bee Tin, Bee Bee, Monteland, and others. They also offer Ube Hopia, Ube Piaya, and other Ube stuff. They have various styles of Ube Bread – in loaves, in buns, and in rolls. You can also try other flavors such as Ube-Macapuno, Pandan, and others. All of them are nicely packaged. Red Ribbon has an Ube Cake, too. (Although there are Red Ribbon branches in Cali). There are also Filipino bakeries outside of Chinatown which make Ube bread, but all of them tend to be very sugary and are easily “lamog” (flattened). I doubt they’d still
