Can you give one example of variation order in building construction?
Say you ask me to replace your old door with a new one at an agreed price. I then later discover that your frame is rotten, so before i put in the door, i have to replace the frame and the cost for that is an extra because it wasn’t part of the initial agreement. So we call it a variation order. If you say you will pay for it, then i will do it, but if you say you won’t pay for it, i will just put your new door on the old frame as initially agreed.
