Can you give more information on Patient Group Directions, especially on immunisation and cover legally?

Patient Group Directions relate to the supply and administration of named medication to groups of patients who may not be individually identified before presentation for treatment. Immunisations are an excellent example of how a PGD can be put into place to support practice. PGD must meet a set criteria and be signed of by the both a doctor or dentist, as appropriate and a pharmacist. Only named individuals (nurse) may work within the PGD and will be legally supported by the Trust, on condition they work within the PGD at all times.
