Can you give me a brief description of the differences between, Galvalume, galvanneal, and hot dipped galvanized metal as it pertains to corrosion resistance, and paintability?
Please note: the answer below is not a commercial commitment but a personal opinion. This is a big subject, but basically these products are designed for different applications. Galvalume is the product with the longest life in normal situations, ie not too close to salt water or soil. It is principally for buildings (walls, roofs. etc.). Galvanneal is designed principally for automotive use (body panels), as it has the flattest surface and is easy to paint. A good paint finish is the most difficult and expensive part of car manufacturing. Hot dipped galvanized is a shorter life product than galvalume in normal situations and has a very uneven surface but is best in extreme conditions, such as near salt water, in contact with soil, chicken coops, etc.
