Can you give dogs aleve or asprin for arthritis pain?

I don’t think that Alleve is safe at all. You can give low dose aspirin to dogs BUT not for any longer than 2-3 days at a time. If given for too long, it can cause damage to the cartilage in their joints. Your vet can prescribe something for arthritis. I work for a vet and he usually prescribes Rimadyl. Previcox and Metacam are other alternatives. There are also supplements that you can give and special diets like J/M (Joint Management, Purina). If you haven’t already, schedule an appointment with your vet so he/she can examine your dog & go over the options with you. At the very least, call your vet before giving anything to your pet for pain relief.
