This may not be completely true anymore. Unless you don’t follow anything whatsoever in the mobile phone industry, there’s a fair chance that you should have heard about HTC’s partnership with T-Mobile in launching the T-Mobile G1: one of the first mobile handsets to feature Google’s mobile OS (can’t remember the name of it). With that said, I believe it is also one of the first 3G phones that really and truly is 3G (I recall actually seeing 3.5G but you can double-check the HTC website to correct me if you like) on T-Mobile’s network. So there are now most likely at least pockets of 3G network in T-Mobile’s system.
