Can you export a Liferay Archive (LAR) from one portal server and import it into another portal server?

Yes, as long as the 2 portal servers are running the same version of Liferay. When you export a LAR from a community, you are exporting that community’s pages, layouts of the portlets on the pages, each of the portlets’ preferences, and a pointer to the theme for each page. If you import the LAR into a portal server that doesn’t have a certain theme available, it will default to the default theme (usually “classic”). If you import a LAR that doesn’t have a certain portlet available, a message saying that portlet is not available will appear in the portlet’s space.
