CAn you explain in very simple terms how the earths tilt gives us seasons?
Please ignore the clowns who say that being closer to the sun has any effect on the seasons. The tilt of the Earth causes the northern hemisphere to face more directly toward the sun than the southern hemisphere, and to have longer days than nights, 6 months out of the year. The opposite is true the other 6 months of the year, where the southern hemisphere is facing more directly toward the sun, and their days are longer than their nights. At this time, the northern hemisphere is having longer nights than days. The exceptions are the equinox, where the day and night are equal lengths of time for the northern and southern hemispheres. When the hemisphere faces the sun more directly and the days are long, this is summer. Short cold days are winter. Spring has cool days that get longer and autumn has cool days that get shorter.
