Can you explain how the VisualAge product is packaged, including features?
First lets clarify some terms: 1. VisualAge Professional – client and server packaged together (1 connect only). 2. VisualAge Client – only the client portion (image, executables, etc) 3. VisualAge Server – only the manager portion (code repository) If you are a single “professional” developer, you would buy a VA Professional license. This is sometimes referred to as the “stand-alone” Professional since it does not require a server license. Note the Professional license is essentially a server + client, but allows only one connection to the code repository. If you have more than one developer, it is cheaper to buy one Server license and several Client licenses. To simplify packaging, IBM created only three CD-ROMs — one for each environment (OS/2, Windows, AIX). All the products (including features) are included on each CD.
