Can you drink alcohol when taking the strong anti-biotics “Flucloxacillin” or “Amoxicillin”?

This question comes up time and time again. There is NO interaction between alcohol and Penicillin antibiotics. If possible, alcohol should generally be avoided with all medication but you CAN drink alcohol with most antibiotics. It is a complete myth that alcohol prevents antibiotics from working or reduces it’s effectiveness. The only antibiotics that you must completely avoid with alcohol are Metronidazole and Tinidazole type antibiotics- they have a direct interaction with alcohol. You can check with your Pharmacist if you are unsure, but I am not wrong. Ignore the above answers who have said that it is dangerous or alcohol will stop the antibiotic from working; if people do not have the correct knowledge they really should avoid answering medical questions. Look in the patient advise leaflet that comes with the drug; it doesn’t say you have to avoid alcohol does it? Exactly! This is because you don’t have to. If you did, it would specifically say that in the leaflet.
