Can you change the Folder icons in Windows Vista back to XP?

No there isn’t, well not at the moment. I maintain a friend’s computer for him that has got Vista on it. He, like you, hates the folders in Vista and I have tried everything to try and and change them, but I have found nothing that will work. I have even tried going back to the Classic look on everything and that doesn’t work either! I’m looking into the possibility of trying a third party program. I use one on XP to change all the folders and other icons to the way I want. I did try it on his Vista, but Vista wouldn’t allow it. So until you can get some software that will allow you to do so, I’m afraid you are stuck.

You will get used to it and learn to love. The 3d version is so much better because as you put files into the folders you see them in the icon. So many people complain about new software that comes out, wanting it to look like the old so really why do people bother to update if they prefer the way things were. However if you really hate the way the folders look, you could right button of mouse on them down to properties, customise and go through all the different icons you could use instead. There are some that are similar to the – what is now – the old fashioned look.
