Can you change the colour of a display cabinet from Mahogany to English oak colour?
It depends on the wood material, but yes, you can. You will need a belt sander, two or three decent paintbrushes of varying sizes (at least one for detail), and enough wood stain in your chosen color. First, sand a small portion of the display cabinet with the grain to expose the wood underneath the stain. Then paint a small portion with your chosen stain and let it dry overnight. This way, you will see what color the cabinet will become prior to investing a lot of time and energy. If that works out, simply sand the cabinet down to remove the layer of finish already on the cabinet. When you are finished, make sure that you have achieved consistency and you haven’t missed any portions. Work with the grain. Next, apply an even layer of stain/protectant with the paintbrush, again with the grain. Let it dry completely. Repeat if necessary. Good luck.
