Hi, I’m from Ireland. I’m just finished 5th year, going into 6th year in September, I’m assuming your in the same position(?) If your Junior Cert results were good enough to get you into a higher class for the leaving cert, than you most likely would have been put into the higher level class at the beginning of 5th year. The fact that you weren’t suggests that your school either made a mistake, or didn’t think that you would be able to handle the higher level course. It’s unfortunate that you have left it this late. If you had made your case to the principal in September of 5th year, he could have moved you easily if he saw fit. The thing is, the ordinary level and higher level courses are completely different, If you were move into the higher level class in 6th year, you would not only need to keep up on the section of the course they would be covering, but you would already be a year behind.
