Can you change 3 phase washer motor into single phase electric?

Sure I read somewhere about using capacitors to allow a 3 phase motors to run on single phase at a reduced power output. Think it’s somewhat related to how a capacitor starter works on a single phase motor (ie generating a additional phase to help get the motor started) Perhaps this is to do with U.S. Patent 4,792,740 http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parse… Never tried any of the above though, so can’t vouch for accuracy/safety/feasibility I recommend using some kind of single to three phase converter if at all possible. Simplest converter is probably a single phase motor which has it’s shaft connected to a 3 phase generator.
