Can you advise me which varieties of tomatoes and capsicums thrive best in hanging baskets??
I haven’t grown either of them in hanging baskets but I’ve grown them both in containers. I think pretty much any pepper would do fine but they aren’t trailers so you may need to stake them and maybe plant a trailing herb such as thyme or maybe some nasturtiums with them just so it looks pretty. There are a number of tomatoes intended for containers and a friend of mine grew the the tumbler variety in hanging baskets with pretty good success. I’ve heard that cherry tomatoes can also do well. Those babies get long though so you’ll want to keep training the stem back up and through the plant so they don’t break. You’ll also need to water ALOT and feed with a water soluble fertilizer. It’s amazing how quickly baskets can dry out and both peppers and tomatoes require a large and steady supply of water in order to produce well. Good luck and have fun. Nothing like a homegrown tomato.
