Can XBRL GL add efficiency to the data collection process for sustainability (corporate citizenship) reporting?
XBRL taxonomies are currently being developed for reporting under sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). XBRL GL can be of immediate benefit to companies who want to identify and compile data pertaining to environmental and other social-reporting metrics. By representing such data at the detail level, XBRL GL facilitates sustainability reporting at both local and global levels.
