Win7 will work on a P4 processor. Use a tool like CPU-Z to determine if your processor is 64bit or not, if it is then try using the 64bit version of Win7. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php My wife had an old Gateway with a P4 that was 64bit compatible. It ran Win7 64bit just fine.
