Can WebEx video services connect to other types of video conferencing applications and endpoints, like Polycom, Tandberg, and Sony?
Not currently. Traditional video conferencing systems and software require special configuration considerations from IT Departments to allow these types of systems to talk to each other. Often times these systems cannot receive video from outside a Corporate Network due to firewalls, NATs and proxy servers, which are designed to protect an enterprise network from unwanted network access. WebEx video services are proprietary by design and do not have many of the trappings and IT headaches of traditional video conferencing systems. This assures that connecting via video is easy, and that information can be exchanged bi-directionally without the need for IT configuration, training, and support, like traditional video conferencing systems.
