Can we talk about the wigs and the bright orange safety jacket?
I was going through a period where I felt really vulnerable and I was actually on tour and saw the orange safety jacket in a gas station in Belgium somewhere and for some reason I just had this weird feeling that I needed to wear it. It felt safer. I don’t know if it was just the fact that it was a play on making you safe or safety-wear. I just really felt that that’s what I was supposed to wear and it took over to where the wigs were at one point, you know, as a costume. I just like to play with images of myself—like I like to put myself in clothes or costumes that aren’t what you would regularly wear. The first time I came across your music was through a photo of you hanging from that huge tree in that vest. I must tell you, I was intrigued. The whole idea about the photo shoots for the Kidnapped by Neptune album was to put myself in a really vulnerable situation but wearing the orange safety gear would be like an opposing force.
