Can we summarize AWR data and archive it for historical purposes ?
Currently in 10gR1, the server does not summarize AWR data for archival purposes. The preferred approach is to define baselines for periods you consider representative or interesting, and keep those around for much longer than the retention period for snapshots. If you want to just retain the ADDM reports and associated tasks, you can change the “Expiration” of the task to an appropriate value. Some other manual alternatives include storing the AWR reports far beyond the retention period. Also, if absolutely necessary, you could define your own summaries. For both these options, you will have to manage the creation and maintenance yourself.
