This was selected as Best Answer Kunal, There are three primary reasons why it would not be advisable to position a product without feedback from Sales & marketing. – If you are in the automotive industry (Nissan?) the total cost (capital and opportunity) of an unsuccessfull product launch could be measured in the hundreds of millions or even billions. This does not include the cost to the Nissan brand (think Toyota). – The cost to consider the feedback of Sales & Marketing is zero. The cost of ignoring their feedback could be a complete loss of support for your product…or worse. Other departments (or companies) within and outside of Nissan could also question your behavior with similar results. – As a paid employee of Nissan you do not have the right to put your personal interests and feelings above what is best for the overall organization.
