Can we get organic milk for the student of Del Mar Union School District?
There has been an interest to provide organic milk to our students. Hollandia Dairy does not offer an organic product. To meet this request the district would be required to locate a dairy that offers an organic product. In addition to meeting the National School Lunch Requirements, the dairy would be required to meet quantity and delivery needs. Hollandia has been a reliable supplier to the Del Mar Union School District for many years. In addition the cost of milk per pint would likely triple. Current board policy requires the Cafeteria Fund be self supporting and not require financial assistance from the General Fund. This price increase therefore would be passed on to parents, which may result in lower milk consumption district wide, bringing other fiscal challenges.
