A license is required in the Virgin Islands and no spearfishing is allowed. In the Bahamas, spear fishing is not allowed in protected areas. On the outer islands there are guides who for a very small fee and beer/lunch are happy to take you fishing in their local waters. The lobster season ends Feb 15th in the Bahamas.
