Can We Create a Centre of Excellence for Clinical Diabetes Research in Medicon Valley?
Øresund Diabetes Academy (ØDA) is a Danish-Swedish organization. It was established in 2006 by Medicon Valley Alliance in cooperation with stakeholders from the industry, the universities and the hospitals in both Denmark and Sweden. Until now, the main focus of ØDA has been the ØDA Research Programme that for the time being runs 4 PhD’s; but ØDA has ambitions of many more. Another activity initiated by ØDA is the annual Øresund Diabetes Day, which will take place end January/start February 2009, in Sweden. The programme is planned and moderated by Thomas Mandrup-Poulsen, Steno Diabetes Center and the University of Copenhagen. It covers lectures and discussions about Glycemic Control Targets and novel therapies in Type 2 Diabetes.
