Can we change the persistence value to fit the scheme criteria?
Persistence factors are derived from a tool provided by the Carbon Trust and therefore cannot be altered. The best way to improve the persistence of a project is to tie it into an upgrade or refurbishment of a similar technology and as long as that other technology makes up the majority of the project cost the higher persistence value can be used. As an example, if lighting controls do not fit with scheme criteria consider upgrading the lighting as well. The persistence factor for the project will then be increased from 3.5 to 4.7 as well as achieving greater carbon savings – providing the value of the lighting upgrade is more than the controls.
