Can we appreciate art of any kind whilst we still having starvation and conflict in the world?
I agree that calling pickled cows in tanks “Art” is a bit of a stretch. It’s a human impulse to make art, and a beautiful one. Besides, artists like Bono are quite involved in trying to solve the problem of poverty in the world, as are numerous actors and actresses. You can give all your money to fighting poverty if you want to, but that still shouldn’t stop you from enjoying music, or creating it. These are really separate concerns.
Well people like to think it’s not their fault. (and it’s not, in my opinion) There’s not much we can do about it, except urge the developed nations of the world to help more. As for the art, it’s a beauty that humanity has created, and there has been no time period in which a piece of art was admired without there being turmoil in some place or another.
