Can we affect social stigma against mental illness through social media?

I believe we can. First, definitions: Social stigma: “Social stigma is severe social disapproval of personal characteristics or beliefs that are against cultural norms. Social stigma often leads to marginalization.” Marginalization: “Marginalization is the social process of becoming or being made marginal (to relegate or confine to a lower social standing or outer limit or edge, as of social standing)” Social media: “Social media are primarily Internet- and mobile-based tools for sharing and discussing information among human beings. The term most often refers to activities that integrate technology, telecommunications and social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio.” Many people today are, sadly to say, gullible. If they read an article about it or watch a video about it, they’ll believe it. If all that’s available to read is negative or false, they’ll end up with a negative/false opinion on the matter and the people it’s about will get stereotyped. B
