Can Vycel U improve water resistance of my polyurethane system?
In most cases, yes, and usually rather significantly. The level of moisture or water resistance is dependent on the amount of Vycel U incorporated. Vycel U actually renders the foam, coating, adhesive, or casting considerably more hydrophobic, so water — even under pressure — has a tough time penetrating into the polyurethane’s polymer matrix. This, in turn, significantly improves the hydrolysis resistance of the polyurethane system, including those based on polyester polyols prone to hydroysis.
