no, viruses do not “become” bacteria. That is not to say that you cannot “catch” bacterial meningitis while you have viral meningitis.

Above is correct. Viruses cannot turn into bacteria. Viral meningitis cannot become bacterial. There is nothing to say you cannot catch bacterial meningitis before/during/after a case of viral, but it’s a seperate infection, not some quasi transmogrification of a virus.
