There is a difference. The difference inherently in video vs. film is that video has a sharp clear crisp image that people sometimes say looks electronic as opposed to film that has a softer overall look. Theres been a lot of time and effort put into defining a term of what is the film look, why is it different from the electronic look of video. I think it has to do with the randomness of the film from frame to frame as opposed to a digital chip where you are dealing with a grid of information that replicates one video frame to the next. In film, in any given frame you have a slight difference between the grain structures where you have captured the image as opposed to this locked down grid thing you have in the digital capture. I think that has something to do with the difference. Years ago people used to attribute the difference to the speeds of recording, thirty frames per second (fps) as opposed to films 24fps.
