Can video piracy be stopped at all?
It cannot be totally stopped but can be controlled. We have good laws in this respect but as is the case with other laws, implementation is poor. If the police takes proper steps to stop piracy, it should be possible to reduce the menace. Further, the cost of genuine video copies should also be brought down to reasonable levels. Piracy then would then be found to be not profitable. Just consider the example of remittance of foreign exchange upto $ 100,000 per person per year officially. This move has brought down the hawala market to a trickle compared to what it was when the remittance amount (at one time) was absurdly low at $ 20!
