can Umbilical cord stem cells be used to help people with tramatic brain injuries?

This type of research is much in its infancy to even have real life applications in medicine. There is evidence that these stem cells can be used to regenerate neurons, but again these trials have only been used with mice. Researchers are still trying to figure out if the neurons they regenerate are just replacing the old neurons, whether they have full function, and how to apply this in a clinical setting, among other things. So I would say that although not impossible, researchers and physicians still have a long way to go before they can completely cure brain injuries.
