Can ulcerative colitis cause high glucose levels?

0

Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune disorder. The body’s response to your ulcerative colitis and sometimes the medications used to treat it may elevate blood glucose levels. A glucose of 12.5 mmol/L or 225 mg/dL is significantly elevated. Whether this reading is due to the UC, your medical regimen for the UC, or diabetes the glucose should be addressed and treated. There are blood tests which may distinguish whether your hyperglycemia is diabetes or whether it is due to the ‘stress’ of the UC and / or your medical regimen for the UC. If I may be of further assistance please let me know. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless.
