Can treacle replace honey in a recipe?

Treacle (black treacle) should not be confused with Golden syrup! If you were to use a substitute for honey I would say use Golden syrup it is much the same as honey in texture and is very sweet as opposed to the bitter taste of treacle, treacle is used to make bonfire toffee and things of that nature!
