Can travel time be claimed?
It is not possible to claim for any travel time except in the case of a placement being in a rural and remote area. An AOD service is in a rural or remote area if that area has an ARIA score of .2 or higher. To determine the ARIA score of your placement, please go to http://www9.health.gov.au/aria/ariainpt.cfm Final approval for travel reimbursement is determined by the APS AOD project staff and is considered on a case by case basis. Supervisors working in rural or remote areas who have been approved for reimbursement of travel costs will submit a claim for reimbursement to the APS with their monthly claim for payment. Other proof of travel expenditure is not required. Supervisors can claim travel costs at 67 cents per kilometre, up to a maximum of 300 kilometres per week (150 km each way), for 20 weeks in total.
