Can trans-ocean shipment between different humidity environments affects soybean weight loss in a container?
You bring out an interesting question. In our shipments of shelled corn at 15.0% moisture from US to Japan, it has been very consistent that moisture content has on the average stayed very near the same moisture as when loaded. For 13.5% soybeans at 10C equilibrium is achieved at about 68-69% relative humidity. At 30C equilibrium moisture of 13.5 % has about 74-75% relative humidity. This is about the mid range of the 60 to 80% relative humidity that you said is present in Hong Kong. It is likely that if your temperatures were in this range, that moisture should not have changed appreciably.
