Can too much TV (plus time behind computer) cause itchy eyes, blurry vision?

Here’s a tip: I’ve been wearing contact lenses for 33 years now. I learned early on that by staring at things for a long time, staring at a TV screen or staring at a computer monitoring you lower your blinking rate. If you blink less your eyes dry up and that causes itchy eyes. It’s particularly noticeable when you wear contact lenses. The blurry vision may be nearsightedness (myopia). Is there nearsightedness in your family? It runs in my family and I started wearing glasses when I turned 7. My teacher called my parents and told them that I was having difficulty reading the blackboard when sitting in the back of the room.
