We all know how exhausted and out of shape we feel when we only get a few hours of sleep. However, one of the biggest questions that many of us have is whether lack of sleep is directly related to weight gain. In this article I will try to answer that question. Recent studies have found that poor sleeping habits can be linked directly to weight gain, obesity and an increased risk of developing diabetes. For those of you who don’t know, all of these health risks are serious. One study, completed by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys in 2005, found that a higher body mass index and obesity were more frequently in those individuals who got less than 7 hours of sleep a night.
