Can tonsillitis/glandular fever recur?

It definitely sounds like you have glandular fever. GF can be passed on through saliva (hence the term kissing disease) but also can be obtained through coughing/ sneezing etc. It is very rare indeed to have GF twice in your lifetime. However GF remains dormant in your immune system pretty much indefinitely. That does not mean to say you can’t have a healthy relationship with your boyfriend but it would be wise to remain incubated for 4-6wks after catching GF. For future reference make sure you maintain a healthy lifestyle i.e. healthy eating, moderate exercise, a good nights sleep, minimal drinking alcohol, take vitamins to prevent viruses. GF is a viral illness and if you are stressed, run down or have a hectic lifestyle you maybe susceptible to Chronic fatigue Syndrome. The symptons of CFS are similar to GF and may be triggered by GF- so the message is from now on is, be healthy!!!! Good luck!
