For the Floating Garden Vegetable Hydroponic Kit the answer is “Yes”. The Floating Garden Kitchen Garden Kit doesn’t have the reservoir capacity to make tomato growing feasible (even though we have successfully done so with determinate miniature tomatoes). As stand-alone units, the Floating Garden Hydroponic Garden Vegetable Kit should primarily be used to grow annual plants that don’t have heavy stems and leaf systems (i.e. lettuce, chards, basil, thyme, oregano, chili peppers, etc are okay.) For these types of plants the plant bed will quite adequately support the plants during their growth cycle. As the vegetable kit does not (as yet) come with a superstructure for supporting vines or for supporting plants with heavy fruit (like tomatoes), supports need to be improvised to support these crops.
