Can tick paralysis be prevented?
There are many products on the market to help reduce the instance of tick paralysis. There is no vaccine, and no product gives us a 100% guarantee, but if used according to manufacturer’s directions, the chances or severity of toxicity are significantly reduced. When choosing a product take in to consideration whether your pet swims often, whether there are young children around, whether your dog snuggles with a cat, and if there are any other health concerns which may influence the product you decide to use. Your local vets can give you advice of the most suitable product for you. If commercial products are not for you, take the time to physically check your pet twice daily. Run your hands all over them, taking care to check their ears, under arms, between toes, under the neck – everywhere! You could save your pets life.
