Yes, an overactive thyroid (also known as “hyperthyroidism”) can cause chest pains due to the heart working overtime. Also, with an under active thyroid or “hypothyroidism” the heart rate slows and the heart will not work properly which also can cause pain during periods of high activity. With both of these disorders, if you see your doctor they can diagnose and prescribe medication accordingly.
