The issue is not whether global warming is taking place, but whether it is man made. If it is not man made then the taxes and penalties for carbon emissions are nothing more than revenue generating policies for governments.

Even though I do believe global warming due to the greenhouse effect is taking place, some non-believers argue that the earth has seen rises and falls in temperatures (ice ages etc) for millions of years, and that this is just another cycle.

People do not deny that global warming is taking place. What is matter of contention is whether global warming is man-induced, and if so, to what extent.
