Can the Wharfedale DVD750 cope with RCE-enabled discs?

0

Yes and No! With the DVD750, there are two ways of finding out – and one involves using a screwdriver! The first option is to get hold of an RCE disc – the Region 1 release of ‘The Patriot’ is RCE encoded. The other option is to remove the case of your player and to check the firmware version. Follow the steps below: • Remove the screws and top cover. • Locate the firmware chip – it will be marked: Wharfedale 750 CS=nnnn (where nnnn is one of the firmware versions below): • 5EE8 – Original firmware, does not play RCE discs • CBE8 – Interim firmware, plays back RCE discs using the standard DVD750 hack • 328C – Latest firmware, plays back RCE discs using the standard DVD750 hack The Wharfedale DVD750S (both Generations) and Wharfedale DVD-M5 can play back RCE discs without any problems.
